If you’ve tried to lose weight with diet or exercise and have been unsuccessful, you may be a candidate for weight-loss surgery, also known as bariatric surgery. Our experienced, compassionate surgeons offer two minimally invasive (laproscopic) weight-loss procedures that have been found to be the safest and most effective.
Gastric bypass
The Roux-en-Y bypass, or simply gastric bypass, is considered the gold standard of weight-loss surgery and has been performed for more than 50 years. A small pouch is created by dividing the top of the stomach from the rest of the stomach and the small pouch is connected to the small intestine, bypassing the divided stomach. By creating this small pouch, people feel full with less food. In addition, rerouting food produces changes in gut hormones that promote a feeling of satisfaction, suppress hunger, and reverse one of the primary ways obesity contributes to type 2 diabetes.
Gastric sleeve
Also called vertical sleeve gastrectomy, gastric sleeve has become the most popular weight-loss surgery. The sleeve gastrectomy is a restrictive procedure in which 80 percent of the stomach is removed, creating a small tube or sleeve shape. This reduces the amount of food that can be consumed at one time, contributing to weight loss and it may also produce hormonal changes that decrease hunger.

The weight is over.
